CLIENT Bouygues UKYsgol Bae Baglan
MBP have supplied over 350 Safehinge doorsets to a new £40M super school in Neath Port Talbot, Wales.
Opened in September 2016, The Ysgol Bae Baglan replaces four schools and now houses over 1,400 pupils. The project was completed through main contractors Bouygues UK and architects Stride Treglown, and is a landmark scheme for Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. The building was also the 2017 winner of the highly prestigious National Eisteddfod of Wales ‘Gold Medal for Architecture’.
The doorsets supplied to the school were fitted with Safehinge Alumax finger guards. Designed for high-traffic areas such as schools, leisure centres and hospitals, the Alumax integral finger guard ‘designs out the problem’ of trapped fingers by using a rounded heel to eliminate the gap between door and frame. As the door opens and shuts, this gap remains constant at just 2mm – too small for fingers to get in harm’s way – and certainly perfect for this project.
